Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Brake fluid may irritate eyes and skin. In case of contact, take the following actions:
  • Eye contact-rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Skin contact-wash with soap and water.
  • If ingested-consult a physician immediately.
NOTE: Brake fluid will damage electrical connections and painted surfaces. Use shop cloths, suitable containers, and fender covers to prevent brake fluid from contacting these areas. Always re-seal and wipe off brake fluid containers to prevent spills.
  1. Use a siphon in order to remove half of the brake fluid from the reservoir.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  4. Place a container below the brake hose (1) in order to catch the brake fluid.
  5. Remove the rear brake hose fitting (3) and the washer from the caliper.

  6. Remove the caliper bolts (1,8).
  7. Remove the caliper from the vehicle.
  8. Remove the brake pads and the hardware from the caliper. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement - Rear .
