Installation Procedure

  1. Install the right rear park brake cable (6) to the equalizer (8).
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the 4 bolts in order to retain the 4 clamps.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N.m (47.79 lb in).

  4. If the vehicle has front-wheel drive, complete the following steps:
    1. If the vehicle has ABS, install the ABS harness to the right rear clamp.
    2. Install the fuel tank shield and the 5 bolts.
    3. Install the front floor center heat shield and the 2 nuts.
    4. Install the front floor forward heat shield and the 3 nuts.

      Tighten:  Tighten the nuts and the bolts to 5.5 N.m (48.68 lb in).

    5. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV6 Engine) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (LNK Engine) in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Install the park brake cable and the bolt to the right rear backing plate.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N.m (69.04 lb in).

  6. Complete the following steps in order to install the park brake cable to the right rear brake:
  7. Inspect the park brake lever travel. Adjust as necessary. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (Drum Brakes)  or Park Brake Adjustment (Disc Brakes) .
