Removal Procedure

- Complete the following steps in order to remove the park brake cable from the left rear brake:
- If the vehicle has rear drum brakes, remove the shoes and the hardware. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement (FWD) or Brake Shoe Replacement (AWD) in Drum Brakes.
- If the vehicle has rear disc brakes, remove the park brake shoes and the hardware. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement .
- Remove the bolt and the park brake cable from the left rear backing plate.
- If the vehicle has front-wheel drive, complete the following steps:
- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV6 Engine) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (LNK Engine) in Engine Exhaust.
- Remove the 3 nuts and the front floor forward heat shield.
- Remove the 2 nuts and the front floor center heat shield.
- Remove the 5 bolts and the fuel tank shield.
- If the vehicle has ABS, separate the ABS harness from the left rear clamp.
- Remove the 4 bolts from the 4 clamps.
- Remove the left rear park brake cable (7) from the equalizer (8).
