Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Rear Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  2. Loosen the upper park brake cable nut (2).
  3. Loosen the lower park brake cable nut (3).
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. If the vehicle has front-wheel drive, complete the following steps:
    1. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV6 Engine) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (LNK Engine) in Engine Exhaust.
    2. Remove the 3 nuts and the front floor forward heat shield.
    3. Remove the 2 nuts and the front floor center heat shield.
  6. Remove the 3 park brake cables (6,7,9) from the equalizer (8).
