Removal & Installation (Driver-side)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Turn steering wheel 90 degrees to gain access to rear steering wheel holes. Insert flat-blade screw driver into each hole and push leaf springs to release air bag module retaining pins. See Fig 1. Turn steering wheel 180 degrees to access remaining 2 holes. Pull air bag module away from steering wheel. Disconnect air bag wire module wire harness from clips on air bag module and steering wheel. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag module connector and disconnect connector. Remove driver-side air bag module.
  3. To, install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure leaf springs are securely connected on all notched pins. Activate air bag system.
