Removal Procedures

  1. Remove the engine cover.
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the throttle body bolts and position throttle body aside. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  5. Remove the intake manifold insulator.
  6. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) hose for the ORVR.
  7. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  8. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
  9. Remove the one bolt and one nut from the accelerator cable bracket.
  10. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector.
  11. Remove the secondary air injection (AIR) solenoid valve. Refer to Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve Replacement In Engine Controls.
  12. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  13. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve connector.
  14. Disconnect the rocker arm (CMP) control solenoid valve connector.
  15. Disconnect the oil pressure switch and 2 ground connectors.
  16. Unclip the engine wire harness from the top of the generator.
  17. Remove one bolt from the engine wire harness bracket.
  18. Remove the oil dipstick guide bolt.
  19. Remove 2 bolts and one nut from the intake manifold bracket.
  20. Remove 2 bolts from the alternator bracket.

  22. Remove the intake manifold bolts and nuts.
  23. Remove the intake manifold and gasket.
  24. Remove the intake manifold insulator.
