Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the right side lower engine splash shield.
  3. Properly route and install the accessory drive belt onto the drive pulleys.

  4. Use a wrench and rotate the belt tensioner clockwise.
  5. With pressure applied to the wrench, install the accessory drive belt.
  6. With the accessory drive belt installed properly, release the belt tensioner.
    7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the right side lower engine splash shield.

  8. Position the A/C hose and install the 2 retaining nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the A/C hose nuts to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  9. Position the wiring harness clamp bracket and install the bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the wire harness clamp bracket bolt to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

    Tighten:  Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
