Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    IMPORTANT: Use a new cylinder head cover gasket and new seal washers whenever the cylinder head cover replacement procedure is performed.
    Ensure that the new gasket and the new seal washers are correctly positioned during the cylinder head cover installation.
  1. Install the new cylinder head cover gasket to the cylinder head cover.
  2. Install a new O-ring to the cylinder head cover.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the cylinder head cover and the wire harness protector to the cylinder head. Secure the cover using 9 bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  5. Install a new ventilation pipe gasket. Secure the ventilation pipe to cylinder head with the 2 nuts and 1 bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ventilation pipe nuts to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

    Tighten:  Tighten the ventilation pipe bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the two Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hoses to the cylinder head cover.
  8. Install the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil(s) Replacement .
  9. Install the engine cover.
