Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the transaxle assembly. Refer to the following:
  3. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the clutch and pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.

  5. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement .

    IMPORTANT: To protect the crankshaft from damage, wrap the tip of the screwdriver with tape.
  7. Use a screwdriver and pry out the crankshaft rear oil seal.
