Removal Procedures

  1. Remove the engine cover.
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the throttle body bolts and position the throttle body aside. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-1.8L (LV6).
  5. Remove the 2 bolts from the accelerator cable bracket.
  6. Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
  7. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  8. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve connector.
  9. Disconnect the rocker arm (CMP) control solenoid valve connector.
  10. Disconnect the oil pressure switch and 2 ground connectors.
  11. Disconnect the six clamps and engine harness wire protector from the intake manifold.
  12. Disconnect the EVAP hose for the ORVR.
  13. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  14. Remove the oil dipstick guide bolt.

  16. Remove the intake manifold bolts and nuts.
  17. Remove the intake manifold and gasket.
  18. Remove the intake manifold insulator.
