Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the intake manifold insulator.
  2. Install the intake manifold and new gasket.
  3. Fig 1: Intake Manifold Bolts And Nuts

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the intake manifold bolts and nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the intake manifold nuts and bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  5. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  6. Connect the EVAP hose for the ORVR.
  7. Connect the six clamps and engine harness wire protector to the intake manifold.

    Tighten:  Tighten the engine wire harness bracket bolts to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  8. Connect the oil pressure switch and two ground connectors.
  9. Connect the rocker arm (CMP) control solenoid valve connector.
  10. Connect the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve connector.
  11. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  12. Connect the ECT sensor connector.
  13. Install the 2 bolts to the accelerator cable bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the accelerator cable bracket bolts to 13 N.m (10 lb ft).

  14. Install the throttle body bolts. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-1.8L (LV6).
  15. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable.
  17. Install the engine cover.
