Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the transaxle assembly. Refer to the following:
  3. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the clutch and pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.
  4. Fig 1: Flywheel Retaining Bolts

  5. Remove the eight flywheel retaining bolts.
  6. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
  7. Clean any grease or dirt from the crankshaft flange outer surface using a suitable solvent.
