Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

    IMPORTANT: Use a new cylinder head cover gasket and new seal washers whenever the cylinder head cover replacement procedure is performed.
    Ensure that the new gasket and the new seal washers are correctly positioned during the cylinder head cover installation.
  1. Install the new cylinder head cover gasket to the cylinder head cover.
  2. Install the new seal washers to the cylinder head cover.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the cylinder head cover to the cylinder head. Secure the cover using nine bolts and two nuts (1, 2, 3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts and nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the ignition coils (1, 2, 3, 4).
  7. Reconnect the following components to the cylinder head cover:
    • The hose clamps
    • The two positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hoses

  9. Position the engine cover (1) to the engine.
  10. Install the 2 engine cover plastic retainers.
  11. Install the 2 engine cover fasteners.
