Removal & Installation (Side Impact)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
    WARNING: Accidental side impact air bag module deployment is possible. Personal injury could occur. Do not remove center nut from side impact air bag module. Remove only upper and lower mounting nuts from side impact air bag module.
  2. Move seat to full forward position. Remove seat back panel cover by lifting up on bottom of cover and pulling away from seat back to release hook fasteners. Make note of side impact air bag module wire routing for use during installation.
  3. Remove upper and lower mounting nuts from air bag module. See Fig 1. Disconnect Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from side impact air bag module electrical connector. Disconnect side impact air bag module electrical connector. Remove side impact air bag module from seat. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten side impact air bag module nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system.
