Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply J 36850  to the VSS O-ring. See Special Tools and Equipment .
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) into the transaxle case. Secure the VSS with the retaining bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the VSS speed sensor (VSS) bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  3. Connect the VSS electrical connector (1).
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
