Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the gearshift selector assembly. Refer to Gearshift Selector Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module from the instrument panel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement in SIR.
  4. Fig 1: Shift Cable Retaining Clips

  5. Remove the clips (1), then the washers from the shift cables.
  6. Disconnect the shift cable ends from the transaxle.
  7. Remove the shift cable retaining clips (2), then disconnect the cables from the bracket.

  9. Remove the 2 shift cable clamp retaining nuts.
  10. Remove the clamp from the shift cables.

  12. Remove the 2 shift cable grommet retaining bolts.
  13. Remove the shift cables from the vehicle.
