Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
- Disable the driver and passenger side SIR systems. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
- Remove the I/P center trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center .
- Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
- Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console .
- Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
- Remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
- Remove the head lamp switch assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
- Remove the wiper switch assembly. Refer to Wipers/Washer Switch Replacement .
- Remove the passenger side inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
- Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster .
- Remove the I/P cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
- Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar .
- Remove the left I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Left .
- Remove any necessary connectors.
- Remove the screws (3) from the upper instrument panel (1).
- Remove the upper instrument panel (1) by pulling rearward to remove from the tabs (2).
