Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disable the driver and passenger side SIR systems. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  3. Remove the I/P center trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center .
  4. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  5. Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console .
  6. Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  7. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  8. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  9. Remove the head lamp switch assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
  10. Remove the wiper switch assembly. Refer to Wipers/Washer Switch Replacement .
  11. Remove the passenger side inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  12. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster .
  13. Remove the I/P cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  14. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar .
  15. Remove the left I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Left .

  17. Remove any necessary connectors.
  18. Remove the screws (3) from the upper instrument panel (1).
  19. Remove the upper instrument panel (1) by pulling rearward to remove from the tabs (2).
