Disabling Zone 4

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

    IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
  4. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block (1), which is located near the base of the steering column.
  5. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.

  7. Release the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector locking mechanism.
  8. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector C3 (1).

  10. Remove the IP compartment (2). Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  12. Release then unlock the IP module connector (1).
  13. Disconnect the IP module pigtail.

  15. Release and unlock the driver and passenger seat module connectors (1).
  16. Disconnect the driver and passenger seat modules.
