Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: The new O-ring seal must be coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

Install the new O-ring seals on to the evaporator tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser tube.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator.
Install the evaporator outlet tube to the evaporator block fitting.
Install the evaporator block fitting bolt to the evaporator.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

Connect the evaporator tube to the condenser tube.
Tighten the evaporator tube nut.
Tighten

Tighten the nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
Install the accumulator tube clip.
Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to POWER BRAKE BOOSTER .
Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY .
Install the left Front Fender Upper diagonal brace. Refer to BRACE REPLACEMENT -- SHEET METAL DIAGONAL .

Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
