Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L36) or FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L67) .
  2. Remove the left and the right engine mount struts. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - LEFT and ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - RIGHT .
  3. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe from the left exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (3.1L)  or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (3.8L) .
  4. Remove the left spark plug wires from the left spark plugs. Refer to
  5. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE REPLACEMENT .
  6. Remove the left engine lift bracket bolt, nut and the engine lift bracket from the left exhaust manifold.

  8. Remove the left exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
  9. Remove the left exhaust manifold heat shield.

  10. Remove the left exhaust manifold retaining bolts, nuts and studs from the left exhaust manifold.
  11. Remove the left exhaust manifold.
  12. Remove the left exhaust manifold gasket.
