Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

Install the front seat belt retractor (7) to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the upper bolt (3) and the lower bolt (6).
Tighten
- Tighten the front seat belt retractor upper mounting bolt to 4.9 N.m (43 lb in).
- Tighten the front seat belt retractor lower mounting bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

Connect the pretensioner electrical connector (1).

Install the guide adjuster (1) bolt to the front seat shoulder belt.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
Install the front seat shoulder belt guide trim cover (3).

Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LOWER CENTER PILLAR in Interior Trim.
Install the front side door sill trim plate. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT in Interior Trim
Install the rear side door sill trim plate. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT in Interior Trim.
Install the lower anchor bolt (5) to the front lower anchor.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
Install the front seat belt lower anchor bolt trim cover (4).
Enable the passenger seat SIR system. Refer to ZONE 9 in Air Bag Restraint Systems.
