Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
  2. Open the lift gate.
  3. Remove the lift gate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  4. Remove the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT in Lighting Systems.
  5. Disconnect the license plate lamp electrical connectors.
  6. Disconnect the lift gate latch electrical connectors.
  7. Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connectors.
  8. Disconnect the rear wiper relay connector.
  9. Disconnect the lower and upper harness connectors (1), (2).
  10. Release the wiring harness retainers from the lift gate.
  11. Remove the lower wiring harness from the lift gate.

  12. Disconnect upper harness boot (2) from lift gate (1).
  13. Remove upper harness from lift gate (1).

  14. Remove the left upper quarter trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR QUARTER UPPER in Interior Trim.
  15. Disconnect the upper lift gate harness connectors (1) from the rear body harness connectors (2).

  16. Disconnect the upper lift gate harness retainers (2) from the left inner quarter panel.

  17. Pull down on left rear of headliner to access harness for removal.
  18. Pull up on harness boot (2) and remove harness from rear upper body (3).
