Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the lift gate hinges to the marked location points on the lift gate, with an assistant.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Install the bolts (1) to the lift gate hinges (2), with an assistant.

    Tighten 

  3. Tighten the lift gate hinge bolts to 19.5N.m (14 lb ft).
  4. Support the lift gate.
  5. Install the lift gate struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .

  6. Install the rear wiper relay (1) with bracket (4), secure relay with screws (3).
  7. Install the lift gate harness. Refer to WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  8. Install the high mount stop lamp. Refer to HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT .
  9. Install the lift gate window latch. Refer to LATCH REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE WINDOW  .
  10. Install the lift gate latch. Refer to LATCH REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  11. Install the license lamps. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT .
  12. Install the lift gate applique. Refer to LIFT GATE APPLIQUE REPLACEMENT  .
  13. Install the lift gate window weather-strip. Refer to LIFT GATE APPLIQUE REPLACEMENT  .
  14. Install the lift gate window. Refer to WINDOW REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  15. Install the lift gate window struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE WINDOW  .
  16. Install the wiper motor assembly. Refer to WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE .
  17. Install the lift gate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  18. Close lift gate.
  19. Install the rear wiper arm. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT - REAR .
