Power Windows System Components

• Driver door master switch panel with lockout switch
• The master switch contains controls for each power window, and has capability to disable all passenger window operations with the lockout switch
• Passenger power window switches
• The passenger door switches control their individual power window
• Power window regulator
• The regulator is the motor that drives the window up and down

A permanent magnet (PM) motor operates each of the power windows. Each motor raises or lowers the glass if voltage is supplied to the motor. The polarity of the supply voltage determines in which direction the motor turns. The window switches control the supply voltage polarity.
