Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the lower instrument panel assembly to the vehicle. Ensure that the 4 push retainers are fully engaged. Secure the assembly to the instrument panel reinforcement with the 8 bolts.
  2. Route and install the I/P wiring harness clamps.
  3. Connect the hood release cable to the hood release handle. Refer to HOOD LATCH RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT in Body Front End.
  4. Install the manual selector. Refer to MANUAL SELECTOR REPLACEMENT in Automatic Transmission (MU4) or MANUAL SELECTOR REPLACEMENT in Automatic Transmission (MU5).
  5. Install the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (CONTROL ASSEMBLY) or HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (A/C SWITCH) in HVAC Systems-Manual.
  6. Install the glove compartment. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P)  in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  7. Install the front floor console assembly. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR  in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  8. Install the hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to TRIM REPLACEMENT - HINGE PILLAR in Interior Trim.
  9. Install the front sill plates. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT in Interior Trim.
  10. Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT in Steering Wheel and Column.
  11. Install the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) UPPER  in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  12. Enable the driver and passenger side SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
