Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the upper I/P panel. Refer to TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) UPPER  .
  2. Remove the lower I/P panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LOWER  .
  3. Disengage the wire harness clamps.
  4. Remove the instrument panel pad lower bolts (12).
  5. Remove the instrument panel pad lower (11).
  6. Remove ground cable.

  7. Remove the I/P center support braces (6, 9). Refer to BRACKET REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) CENTER SUPPORT  .
  8. Remove the windshield defroster nozzle duct from the heater case assembly.
  9. Remove the following retainers from the instrument panel reinforcement at the hinge pillars:
    • The 5 bolts
    • The nuts
  10. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement (4) from the vehicle.
