Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION .
  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.

    Important:  It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel to access the lower trim cover screws. The screws can be easily accessed by rotating the steering wheel.

  2. Remove the following components from the steering column:
    • The lower trim cover screw
    • The 2 lower trim cover screws that are located beneath the steering wheel (3).
  3. Remove the steering column lower trim cover (6).
  4. Remove the steering column upper trim cover (7).

  5. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch electrical connector.
  6. Remove the wiper/washer switch (2) from the steering column, by depressing the tab (1).
