Removal Procedure

- Remove the manual transaxle from the vehicle. Refer to TRANSAXLE REPLACEMENT in Manual Transmission -MK5 or TRANSAXLE REPLACEMENT in Manual Transmission - MTN.
- Remove the clutch release bearing and the clutch release fork at the same time.
- Remove the clutch release bearing from the clutch release fork.
- Clean the clutch release bearing using a clean dry solvent free cloth.
- Inspect the clutch release bearing for external damage and smooth rotation. Replace the clutch release bearing for the following conditions:
- External damage
- The bearings do not operate smoothly.
