Installation Procedure

- Install the lower heat insulator to the exhaust manifold.
- Tighten
- Tighten the lower heat insulator bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
- Install the following components:
- The exhaust manifold gasket
- The exhaust manifold
- On 1.8L LV6 engines, install the exhaust manifold bolts (1-5).
- Tighten
- Tighten the exhaust manifold to nuts and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- On 1.8L LNK engines, install the 3 exhaust manifold bolts (1-3) and 2 exhaust manifold nuts (4-5).
- Tighten
- Tighten the exhaust manifold to nuts and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the upper heat insulator.
- Install the upper heat insulator bolts.
- Tighten
- Tighten the upper heat insulator bolts to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).
- Install 1 bolt to the manifold support bracket to exhaust manifold.
- Tighten
- Tighten the manifold support bracket bolt 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust manifold flange gasket.
- Install the following components to the exhaust manifold flange:
- The springs (5)
- 2 bolts (4)
- Tighten
- Tighten the exhaust pipe bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe hangers (3).
- Connect the Heated Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors.
- Connect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S2) electrical connector (2). Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 2 or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 2 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 2 Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
- Connect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S1) electrical connector (1). Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 1 or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 1 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 1 Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
- Lower the vehicle.CAUTION: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
