Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 (HO2S1). Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 1 or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 1 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 1 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
  2. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (HO2S2). Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 2 or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 2 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 2 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
  3. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING - AWD .
  4. Remove the bolts securing the front pipe to the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
  5. Remove the bolts securing the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) to the muffler/tail pipe assembly.
  6. Remove the hangers from the TWC (2).
  7. Remove the TWC from the vehicle.
  8. Clean the gasket and seal mating surfaces.
