Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply a continuous bead of silicon sealant GM P/N 12346240 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or an equivalent, to the engine oil pan mating surface.

  2. Install the engine oil pan.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  3. Use the following components to secure the engine oil pan:
    • 12 bolts (2, 4-13, 15)
    • 4 nuts (1, 3, 14, 16)

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine oil pan bolts and the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  4. Install flywheel cover.
  5. Install the left side engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - LEFT in Body Front End.
  6. Install the engine oil drain plug and the gasket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine oil drain plug to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the engine oil.

    Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations  in MAINTENANCE.

  9. Inspect the oil pressure.
