Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the intake manifold insulator.

  2. Install the intake manifold and new gasket.
    CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  3. Install the intake manifold bolts and nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the intake manifold nuts and bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  4. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  5. Connect the EVAP hose for the ORVR.
  6. Connect the six clamps and engine harness wire protector to the intake manifold.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine wire harness bracket bolts to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  7. Connect the oil pressure switch and two ground connectors.
  8. Connect the rocker arm (CMP) control solenoid valve connector.
  9. Connect the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve connector.
  10. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  11. Connect the ECT sensor connector.
  12. Install the 2 bolts to the accelerator cable bracket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the accelerator cable bracket bolts to 13 N.m (10 lb ft).

    CAUTION: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Install the engine cover.
  15. Refill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM in Engine Cooling.
  16. Install the left and right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - LEFT and SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHT in Body Front End.
