Oil Pan Installation

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  1. Position the oil pan baffle to the engine block then install 2 oil pan baffle bolts (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil pan baffle bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  2. Install 2 oil pan baffle nuts (3).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil pan baffle nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  3. Install oil strainer gasket
  4. Install the oil strainer and 3 oil strainer bolts (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil strainer bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  5. Apply a continuous bead of silicon sealant

    GM P/N 12346240 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or an equivalent, to the engine oil pan mating surface.

  6. Install the engine oil pan.

    Use the following components to secure the engine oil pan:

    • 12 bolts (2, 4-13, 15)
    • 4 nuts (1, 3, 14, 16)

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine oil pan bolts and the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the engine oil drain plug and the gasket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine oil drain plug to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
