Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If SIR diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Using scan tool, request SIR DTC display. If DTC B1001 is displayed as a current DTC, got to next step. If DTC B1001 is not displayed as a current DTC, go to step  8.
  3. Using scan tool, verify that DIM is programmed with correct VIN. If VIN is not correct, go to next step. If VIN is correct, go to step  5.
  4. Using scan tool, reprogram DIM with correct VIN. Go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool, perform SETUP SDM SERIAL NUMBER into DIM. When programming is complete, go to next step.
  6. Using scan tool, clear SIR DTC's. Turn ignition off, then on. If scan tool indicates DTC B1001 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1001 is not current, go to step  8.
  7. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  8. Reconnect all SIR components. Using scan tool, clear all DTC's. Road test vehicle, then check for DTC's. If DTC's are retrieved, go to step  2. If no DTC's are retrieved, system is normal.
