Removal Procedure

- Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
- Loosen the drive belt tension by turning the tensioner clockwise.
- Remove the compressor serpentine drive belt.
- Disconnect the compressor clutch electrical connector (2).
- Remove the 1 bolt (7) and the compressor and condenser hose assembly (6) from the compressor.
Important: Cap the open fittings to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the refrigeration system.
- Remove the compressor upper mounting bolt (8).
- Raise and suitably support vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
- Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHT in Body Front End.
- Remove the 2 compressor lower mounting bolts (4) and the compressor (3) from the vehicle.
- If the compressor is to be replaced, drain and measure the amount of oil in the compressor.
