Removal (Knock Sensor 1 - 3.0L)

  1. Turn OFF the ignition. Record preset radio stations. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove knock sensor harness connector. See Figure . Release accessory drive belt from generator pulley and belt tensioner pulley.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right-side front splash shield push-pins and remove splash shield. Remove belt tensioner bolts and remove belt tensioner. Note wiring position and disconnect wiring at generator.
  3. Remove generator bolts and move generator enough to access knock sensor 1 wire. Note knock sensor 1 wire routing before removing sensor. Remove knock sensor 1 bolt and knock sensor from attachment clips. Remove knock sensor 1.
