Heated Oxygen Sensor: Installation

CAUTION: Silicone based products will contaminate the HO2S. Use only a nickel based anti-seize compound that does not contain silicone. Do not apply any material in the HO2S harness connector such as grease or dielectric compound.

Apply a small amount of Anti-Seize Compound (21485279) to the threads of the HO2S. Using Heated Oxygen Sensor Wrench (J39194C), install the HO2S. Tighten the HO2S to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install sensor harness and connector to the attachment clip. Connect the HO2S harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement.



CAUTION: Silicone based products will contaminate the HO2S. Use only a nickel based anti-seize compound that does not contain silicone. Do not apply any material in the HO2S harness connector such as grease or dielectric compound.
  1. Apply a small amount of Anti-Seize Compound (21485279) to the threads of the HO2S. Using Heated Oxygen Sensor Wrench (J39194C), install the HO2S. Tighten the HO2S to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Install sensor harness clip to the heat shield attachment bolt. Connect the HO2S harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement. Ensure the HO2S harness pigtail is secured to the chassis.

Start engine and ensure no exhaust leaks exist.

  2. Lower vehicle. Connect the HO2S harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement. Start engine and ensure no exhaust leaks exist.
