Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Attach a cross brace to the left and the right adjusters.
  2. Ensure that the tab bending downward at the center of the cross brace faces the rear of the adjusters.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Secure the cross brace to adjuster with two bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the cross brace bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  4. Install the crosswire and assist springs.

    Important:  Install the right and left seat adjuster sliding mechanism in the same position that the mechanism had when you attached the adjuster-to-seat bottom frame.

    Install the adjuster assembly to the floor pan attachments before you attach the adjusters to the seat. Use the floor pan as a guide during assembly in order to ensure correct adjuster alignment. The floor pan will act as an assembly fixture.

  5. Install the adjuster assembly to the floor pan.
  6. Install the seat adjuster to floor pan bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

  7. Position the seat to the adjuster assembly.
  8. Install the frame to adjuster bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

  9. Move the seat back to the upright position.
  10. Inspect the operation of the manual seat adjusters.
  11. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUCKET  .
  12. Install the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to SEAT CUSHION REPLACEMENT - FRONT  .
  13. Install the front seat trim panels. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - FRONT SEAT  .
  14. Install the E/Z entry cable to the adjuster, if equipped.
  15. Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUCKET  .
