Replacement (Federal)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cables. On vans, remove engine cover. See ENGINE COVER . On all models, remove the harness connector from the glow plug relay by releasing the locking tab. Remove the hold down nuts on the glow plug feed wires. Remove the glow plug feed wires. Remove the relay mounting nuts. Remove the relay from the studs on the engine.
  2. Install the relay to the studs on the engine. Install the relay mounting nuts. Install the wiring harness connector to the relay. Install the glow plug feed wires. Install the glow plug feed wires nuts.
  3. Ensure that the PCM electrical harness is properly routed to avoid contact with the engine cover during installation. Connect negative battery cables. Tighten fasteners properly. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
