Removal Procedure

Important: The muffler is serviced as a complete assembly and cannot be serviced separately.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General information.
Support the exhaust system.
Remove the catalytic converter from the muffler. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT (3.1L) or CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT (3.8L) .
Remove the exhaust system from the exhaust hangers.
Clean the catalytic converter and the muffler gasket mating surfaces.
