Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install the new valve rocker arm cover gasket. Make sure that the valve rocker arm cover gasket is seated properly in the valve rocker arm cover groove.
Install the right valve rocker arm cover.
Apply thread lock compound GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to the valve rocker arm cover bolt threads.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
Install the right valve rocker arm cover bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Install the right engine lift bracket to the exhaust manifold.
Install the right engine lift bracket bolt and nut.
Tighten

Tighten the bolt and the nut to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

Install the fuel injector sight shield bracket to the exhaust manifold.
Install the fuel injector sight shield bracket nuts.
Tighten

Tighten the nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
Install the EVAP purge solenoid and the bracket. Refer to EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE in Engine Performance - Removal and Installation.
Install the right spark plug wires to the right spark plugs. Refer to SPARK PLUGS in Engine Performance - Removal and Installation.
Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to DRIVE BELT TENSIONER REPLACEMENT .
Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L36) or FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L67) .
Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Battery.
Check and fill the crankcase as necessary.
Inspect for oil leaks.
