Removal & Installation (CSI)

  1. Remove the engine cover. See ENGINE COVER . Remove the upper intake manifold assembly. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (4.3L - UPPER)  in INTAKE MANIFOLD under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
  2. Remove the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip. Pull and twist the fuel pressure regulator in order to remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel pressure regulator housing using a shop towel to catch any spilled fuel. Remove the regulator seal lower "O" ring. Remove the regulator assembly filter.
  3. Remove the regulator seal upper "O" ring. Remove the regulator seal backup ring. Cover the fuel pressure regulator housing to prevent contamination from entering the fuel system. Discard the "O" rings.
  4. NOTE: If the fuel pressure regulator is to be reinstalled, inspect the filter screen for contamination. If the filter screen is contaminated, replace the regulator.
  5. Lubricate the NEW "O" rings with clean engine oil. Install the regulator seal backup ring. Install the regulator seal upper "O" ring. Install the regulator assembly filter. Install the regulator seal lower "O" ring. Assemble the regulator with the vacuum tube pointing down into the regulator retainer clip. Install the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
