Removal Procedure

- Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Remove the turn signal cancel cam. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam And Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement .
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
- Slide the PASSKEY® III (2) off of the ignition lock cylinder case (1).
- Remove the connector (2) from the theft deterrent control module (3).
- Remove the TORX® head screw (1) from the theft deterrent control module (3).
- Remove the theft deterrent control module (2) from the ignition lock cylinder case (1).
- Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case (2).
- 8.1. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees.
- 8.2. Pull the key alarm connector (1) out of the ignition lock cylinder case (2).
- Remove the 2 tapping screws (2) from the ignition switch assembly (1).
- Let the ignition switch assembly (1) hang freely.
Important: The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the ignition lock cylinder case (2).
- Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case (2).
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder case (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
- Remove the lock bolt assembly (4) from the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
- Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).
