Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Dip the valve lifter(s) in prelube GM P/N 12345501 or equivalent.
  2. Install the valve lifter(s) to the same position the valve lifter(s) was removed from.
  3. Install the valve lifter guide(s).
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  4. Install the valve lifter guide bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the valve lifter guide bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the push rod guide plate(s), the push rod(s), the valve rocker arm(s), and the bolt(s). Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  6. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower (L36)  or Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower (L67) .
  7. Install the valve rocker arm cover(s). Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left  or Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Right .
