Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the engine mount to the engine mount bracket.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Install the engine mount upper nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine mount upper nuts to 78 N.m (58 lb ft).

  3. Install the engine mount and the engine mount bracket to the engine.

  4. Install the right rear engine mount bracket bolts to the engine. Hand tighten the bolts.

  5. Install the left front engine mount bracket bolts to the engine. Hand tighten the bolts.
  6. Tighten the engine mount bracket bolts connecting the engine mount bracket to the engine.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine mount bracket bolts to 102 N.m (75 lb ft).

  7. Using the jack stands raise the frame to the original position.
  8. Install the right side frame bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the right and left side frame bolts to 180 N.m (133 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Use the engine support fixture to lower the engine.
  11. Raise the vehicle.

  12. Install the engine mount lower nuts to the frame.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine mount lower nuts to 78 N.m (58 lb ft).

  13. Install the A/C compressor bracket and bolts to the engine.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the A/C compressor bracket bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  14. Install the A/C compressor and the A/C compressor mounting nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the A/C compressor mounting nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  15. Install the power steering oil cooler pipe brackets to the frame.

  16. Install the right engine splash shield and the splash shield retainers.
  17. Install the catalytic converter to the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT (3.1L) or CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT (3.8L) .
  18. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Remove the engine support fixture.
  21. Install the right and left engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right  and Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left .
  22. install the air inlet duct to the throttle body.
  23. Connect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.

  24. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L36)  or Drive Belt Replacement (L67) .
  25. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36)  or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67) .
  26. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
