Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left (front) valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left .
  2. Remove the right (rear) valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Right .
  3. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .
  4. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Upper .
  5. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  6. Remove the lifter guide bolts.

  7. Remove the valve lifter guide(s).
  8. Remove the valve lifter(s).
  9. Clean all gasket surfaces with degreaser.
  10. Clean the valve train parts.
  11. Inspect the valve lifters and the cam lobes for wear. Refer to VALVE LIFTERS CLEANING AND INSPECTION .
