Installation Procedure

- Install a new right cylinder head gasket.
- Install the right cylinder head over the locator pins and over the gasket.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
- Install NEW cylinder head bolts
Tighten
Tighten the bolts in sequence to 50 N.m (37 lb ft). Using the J 36660-A , rotate the bolts an additional 90 degrees.
- Install the right exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - RIGHT (3.1L) or EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - RIGHT (3.8L) .
- Install the right spark plugs. Refer to SPARK PLUGS .
- Install the generator. Refer to GENERATOR .
- Install the fuel line bracket.
- Install the right spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to SPARK PLUGS .
- Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT (3.1L) or EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT (3.8L) .
- Install the pushrods and valve rocker arms. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
- Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .
- Fill the crankcase with engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
- Install the fuel line bracket bolt and stud.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt and stud to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
- Inspect for leaks.
