Removal (2.4L)

  1. Ignition coils are located in the Ignition Control Module (ICM) housing, attached inside the camshaft housing. See Fig 1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove the accelerator cable from the hold down clip. Remove the cruise control cable (if equipped). Remove the bolt from the fuel line retainer clip. Disconnect the 11-pin harness connector to the ICM.

  2. Remove camshaft housing bolts. Turn camshaft housing over. Remove ICM screws. Remove ICM. Remove the screws that retain the ICM housing to the camshaft housing. Disconnect the coil harness connector from the ICM. Remove the ICM housing from the camshaft housing. Remove ignition coils from the ICM housing. See Fig 2. Disconnect ignition coil harness connectors. Remove the contact springs from the ICM housing. See Figure. Remove the ignition coil seals from the ignition coils.
