Removal & Installation (2.4L)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE (GASOLINE) . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air intake ducts. Disconnect and mark harness connections and vacuum hoses from throttle body.
  2. Disconnect the accelerator and cruise control cables from the throttle body and the accelerator bracket. Remove the 2 accelerator bracket nuts. Remove the accelerator bracket from the throttle body.
  3. Remove the throttle body attaching bolts. Remove MAP sensor. See MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR . See Figure. Remove the throttle body and gasket from the intake manifold.
  4. Inspect the throttle body gasket and replace if necessary. Install the throttle body to the intake manifold. Tighten the throttle body attaching bolts and studs to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten accelerator bracket nuts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). Test the accelerator movement by depressing the pedal to the floor and releasing the pedal.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. Reset the IAC valve pintle position as follows:
    • Turn on the ignition.
    • Turn off the ignition for 10 seconds.
    • Start the engine and check for proper idle operation.
