Fuel Tank (Gasoline): Installation

- With the aid of an assistant, raise the fuel tank to the vehicle. Connect the wiring harness at the fuel sender assembly and fuel pressure sensor. Install the fuel tank retaining straps. Tighten the strap bolts to 26 ft. lbs. (35 N.m).
- Remove the caps from the fuel pipes. Connect the fuel feed pipe at the fuel filter inlet. Connect the EVAP purge pipe and fuel return pipe at the rear quick-connect fitting. Install the fuel and EVAP pipes into the pipe clip. Align the fuel and EVAP pipes into a flat position. Install the pipe clip bolt and tighten to specification.
- Connect the wiring harness into the multi-pin rear body connector. Connect the EVAP vapor pipe to the EVAP canister. Connect the fuel filler hose to the fuel tank. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp to 27 INCH lbs. (3 N.m). Install the rubber exhaust hangers. Install the exhaust heat shield. Tighten the exhaust shield bolt to 18 INCH lbs. (2 N.m). Tighten the exhaust shield nuts to 9 INCH lbs. (1 N.m). Connect the fuel return pipe and fuel filter quick-connect fittings.
- Lower the vehicle. Refill the fuel tank. Install the fuel filler cap. Connect the negative battery cable. Inspect for leaks by using the following procedure:
- Turn ignition on for 2 seconds.
- Turn ignition off for 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition on.
- Check for fuel leaks.
